The Seattle Children's Research Division is looking for a Security Officer I or II.
Security Officer IISecurity Officers II are the primary responders for all safety concerns, security incidents and service requests at facilities owned or occupied by Seattle Children's. They deter, detect, prevent, respond and document concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members and property by using appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures and non‑violent crisis intervention methods.
They respond to situations including, but not limited to, fire emergencies, hazardous spills, disaster response, medical emergencies, safety support, missing child, active shooter, bomb threats, individuals under distress or escalated, and unauthorized persons entering Seattle Children's property with criminal intent such as vandalism, theft, or assault.
Required Education/Experience- Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field or three years of experience in Security Services or related field.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
- CPI Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (annual requirement).
- Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
- Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.
- Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role.
- Score of 80% or higher on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department within 12 months.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
- Completion of Wheelchair Vehicle Training.
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.
- Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location (preferred).
Security Officers I are the first line of safety and security at facilities staffed by the Seattle Children's Security Department. They provide a physical presence at all public entrances and lobby areas to deter, detect, prevent, respond and document concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well‑being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members and property by using appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures and non‑violent crisis intervention methods.
They provide support for situations including, but not limited to, fire emergencies, hazardous spills, disaster response, medical emergencies, safety support, missing child, active shooter, bomb threats, individuals under distress or escalated, and unauthorized persons entering the building with criminal intent.
Required Education And Experience- High School Diploma and at least two years of experience in Customer Service or Security Services.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
- CPI Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (annual requirement).
- Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
- Completion of Seattle Children's Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.
- Valid Washington State Driver's License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.
Security Officer I: $21.64 – $32.45 per hour.
Security Officer II: $21.64 – $37.16 per hour.
