Refrigeration (Reefer) Mechanic

URM Stores, Inc. is looking for a full‑time Refrigeration (Reefer) Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain Thermo King and Carrier units on trucks, trailers, gensets, and APUs.

Shift: Sunday‑Thursday 9:00 pm – 5:00 am.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair components on the truck, trailer, and V‑series refrigeration units.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair components on gensets and APUs.
• Maintain transport refrigeration systems on trucks, trailers, APUs, V‑series, gensets, and buses using scanners and electronic test equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service the refrigeration equipment.
• Prepare shop orders, write estimates, and document repair details; contact customers when necessary.
• Repair failures; remove, replace, and test components with a multimeter.
• Repair refrigerant leaks, assemble and install parts involving soldering, and operate refrigeration equipment.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by the manager.

• Experience with Thermo King and/or Carrier reefer units.
• 609 and 608 certifications strongly preferred.
• EPA Type 2 license preferred.
• ASE certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to run and interpret diagnostics.
• 2–5 years of transport refrigeration technical experience or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL license preferred.
• Must be able to work a swing shift.
• Must possess the tools required to accomplish essential job results.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds.
• Must successfully complete a pre‑employment physical abilities test and a DOT drug test.

• Wage Structure
  • 0–5 months experience – $27.23 per hour
  • 6 months experience – $28.23 per hour
  • 12 months experience – $29.56 per hour
  • 18 months experience – $31.88 per hour
  • 24 months or more experience – $33.21 per hour (full scale)
• Annual contractual wage increase each June.
