Hourly Rate: $30.00‑$36.00 DOE; +$4.57 Balance Hours (H&W), $1.50 Night shift differential, $0.75 Swing shift differential

Position Summary

Potawatomi Defense Operations is seeking a qualified General Maintenance Worker to provide overall facilities maintenance support for complex facilities including office, laboratory, computer, warehouse, and other special purpose spaces. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance and general repairs on building operating systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, lighting), general carpentry, repair of facility structures, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Use materials, methods, equipment, and tools for maintenance, repair, and construction of building structures and systems, including rough and finished carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical, mechanical, and painting work.
  • Diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions; perform preventive maintenance on machinery.
  • Apply safety management principles and practices.
  • Utilize office automation tools, including computers, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and building management software.
  • Understand and apply local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.
  • Read and interpret facility maintenance manuals, technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with a diversified group of people under stressful conditions.
  • Use common hand tools and related equipment.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and recommend sound solutions to routine problems.
  • Work independently and efficiently under general supervision of the On‑Site Project Manager, On‑Site Supervisor, and Site Foreman, with non‑supervisory guidance from the designated Government Point of Contact.
Qualifications
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible general/facility maintenance experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Other Requirements
  • Pass a pre‑employment physical.
  • Pass a pre‑employment background check and drug screening.
  • Pass a background check required for Federal Agency security access badging.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands
  • Work primarily indoors at the Western Regional Center in Seattle; some work outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.

  • Use of PPE as required.
  • Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping, and handling of tools; required dexterity and hand‑eye coordination.
  • Reaching with hands and arms above or below sight level; talking, hearing, and seeing required.
  • Walking within project location with occasional use of stairs; no elevator available.
  • Bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and standing for up to 12 hours.
  • Frequent lifting of 50–75 pounds; occasional carrying of up to 35 pounds for distances up to 100 feet.
