PositionSummary
Installation of quarry, ceramic, porcelain, and mosaic tiles; soft tiles, sheet goods, carpet, and carpet tiles; trowel‑finished epoxy terrazzo, color flake systems, and underlayment. Coordinate mobilization and demobilization of job sites; demolition of flooring and underlayment; prepare and prime steel surfaces; hand‑load materials aboard vessels; uphold good housekeeping; learn proper material disposal requirements.

Essential Functions & Major Responsibilities- Use safe work practices, wear PPE, and adhere to safety rules.
- Keep the work site clean and organized.
- Stock materials and tools throughout the vessel per job specifications.
- Lead and/or mentor helpers and apprentices.
- Obtain and adhere to material disposal processes.
- Demolish decking materials when needed.
- Layout and install color flake systems, carpet or vinyl tiles, sheet vinyl, and rolled carpet.
- Install and weld seams of electrical matting. Install quarry, ceramic, mosaic, and porcelain tile.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with other employees.
- Follow written and oral instructions regarding daily functions, safety rules, and hazardous conditions.
- Give instruction to assistants.
- Learn all aspects of flooring installations.
- Utilize safe work practices per Job Hazard Analysis.
- Pay attention to detail when taping, cutting, and around drains, walls, and doorways.
- Know how to use trowels, air chippers, needle guns, deck crawlers, grinders, wet saws, tile cutters, torch, floor scrapers, and floor buffing machines.
- Repair basic problems with tools in the field.
- Understand cure times and recoat windows.
- Properly install epoxy, urethane, polyaspartic, and urethane sealers.
- Build containment.
- Install cove base materials with a straight radius, no waves.
- Communicate effectively with a diverse workforce.
- Work smart, careful, productive, flexible, and considerate.

- Show willingness and ability to learn and advance.
- Be meticulous, patient, and driven to learn all facets of flooring installations.

At least 5 years of installation experience in two or more flooring types (hard tiles, soft tiles, vinyl, rubber, etc.), carpet, sheet goods, trowel‑finished epoxy systems, underlayment, and color flake systems.
Certificates, Licenses & RegistrationsMust obtain the following certifications within two years of hire:
- C-6
- OSHA 10
- Boom Lift
- Forklift
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs.
- Standing or walking on hard uneven surfaces for extended periods.
- Working in tight spaces at times in adverse temperatures.
- Handling work on multiple vessel levels requiring ladder well use.
- Using a respirator as required.
May be exposed to excessive noise, paint gases, fumes, and varying weather conditions. Protective equipment will be provided. This position may require occasional travel within the greater metropolitan area. Mileage accrued within expected work areas will not be reimbursed unless approved by the General Manager. The role requires the ability to perform essential duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
