The King County's Facilities Management Division (FMD),
Building Operations Section (BOS) is looking to hire an Electrician I. This position will perform journey-level electrician duties including installation, alteration, troubleshooting/diagnosis, and preventative maintenance and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and related equipment.
Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:55 am – 3:25 pm.
Responsibilities- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems.
- Maintain equipment and perform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer's recommendations and warranty requirements.
- Identify preventative maintenance needs and make recommendations.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical components of security, building operations, and life safety systems.
- Install light fixtures.
- Install secondary service wiring in and between buildings.
- Install low voltage wiring systems in buildings.
- Read construction documents and estimate cost and resource requirements.
- Verify that all electrical equipment and circuits are working within specification.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Possess (and maintain) a valid Washington State General Journeyman‑01 license (required).
- Have journey‑level knowledge of and skills in the electrical trade.
- Have a thorough knowledge of methods, practices, materials and tools of the electrical trade, hazards and safety precautions, and the National Electric Code.
- Possess past professional experience in using and caring for the tools, machinery, and equipment of the electrical trade, reading blueprints and schematics, troubleshooting methods and techniques, installing complete electrical systems, reading and interpreting instrumentation, repairing, troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems and equipment, and technical reading and writing skills.
- This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) Career Service Electrician I vacancy and two (2) Term‑Limited Temporary vacancies. It may also be used to create an eligibility list for future Career Service, Term‑Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignments (SDA) vacancies within the same classification.
- This position may be required to report to various worksites throughout King County. The reporting location will be the King County Chinook Building in downtown Seattle, WA.
- The selected applicant must possess a valid Washington State driver's license and the ability to travel throughout King County in a timely manner in a variety of County vehicles.
- Final appointment is contingent upon successfully passing a thorough federal and county background investigation, reference checks, and clearing a pre‑employment physical examination.
- These positions are non‑exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and are therefore overtime eligible.
- Employees are paid on a bi‑weekly schedule, every other Thursday, comprising a 40‑hour workweek; schedule and work location are to be determined.
- This position is required to be on a paid rotating standby list for non‑duty days such as weekends and holidays.
- Incumbents in these positions are represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 46.
- This position has been designated as a FIRST RESPONDER in the event of a proclaimed emergency, with responsibility for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence, environment and/or restoration of order.
