Position: Site Engineer - Electrical (Solar)

of Role & responsibilities:
1. Site Execution & Installation

  • Execute installation of solar PV modules, mounting structures, DC/AC cables, earthing, and lightning protection systems.
  • Supervise electrical works such as inverter installation, ACDB/DCDB/SMB installation, LT/HT panel work, and transformer connections (if applicable).
  • Ensure installation is as per approved drawings, design, and engineering guidelines.
  • Coordinate with technicians, contractors, and labour teams for smooth execution.
2. Site Survey & Planning
  • Conduct site feasibility studies, shadow analysis, load assessment, and roof condition checks.
  • Assist in site layout planning, material requirement planning, and work sequencing.
  • Report any design or site-related issues to the engineering/design team.
3. Quality Control & Safety
  • Ensure that all electrical installations comply with IS/IEC standards and safety norms.
  • Conduct quality checks for materials received (modules, inverters, cables, BOS).
  • Enforce site safety rulesPPE usage, safe electrical practices, height-safety compliance.
  • Maintain installation checklists, inspection reports, and testing records.
4. Testing & Commissioning
  • Perform pre-commissioning and commissioning tests: continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, string testing, inverter start-up, and system synchronization.
  • Troubleshoot faults related to DC/AC systems, inverter alarms, strings, and protection devices.
  • Hand over the system to O&M team with proper documentation.
5. Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain daily site progress reports, material consumption reports, and labour deployment logs.
  • Prepare as-built drawings, checklists, and test reports.
  • Coordinate with project managers for project timelines, requirements, and approvals.
6. Vendor & Labour Coordination
  • Coordinate with subcontractors/vendors for timely execution.
  • Verify contractor work quality and certify bills based on completed work.
  • Ensure timely availability of materials, tools, and equipment on-site.
7. Customer Interaction
  • Interact with clients during installation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Explain system operation, safety features, and maintenance guidelines to the customer.
  • Handle basic customer queries and elevate major issues to project managers.
Preferred candidate profile Educational Qualification
  • Diploma / B.E /

    B.Tech in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
  • Additional certification in Solar PV installation / Renewable Energy (added advantage).
Experience
  • 3 to 5 years experience in solar project execution .
  • Hands-on experience in ground-mount solar installations preferred.
  • Exposure to electrical works like cable laying, module mounting, inverter installation, and testing.
Technical Skills
  • Strong understanding of electrical fundamentals, single-line diagrams (SLD), and wiring practices.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, layouts, and string diagrams.
  • Basic knowledge of solar PV components: modules, inverters, DC/AC DBs, earthing, surge protection, and cabling.
  • Experience in testing & commissioning activities IR testing, continuity tests, string voltage/current checks.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, PPE usage, and electrical safety protocols.
Software & Tools
  • Working knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word, and mobile-based project reporting tools.
  • Ability to use multimeters, clamp meters, insulation testers, and basic electrical tools.
  • Exposure to PV design software like Helioscope/Solar Web/Solmetric (not mandatory but desirable).
Behavioural Competencies
  • Strong willingness to work on-site in outdoor and rooftop conditions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with supervisors, contractors, and clients.
  • Problem-solving attitude with attention to detail and quality.
  • Highly disciplined and safety-conscious.

  • Ability to handle labour teams and guide technicians effectively.
  • Physically fit to work at heights, hot weather, or industrial environments.
  • Flexibility to travel and stay at project sites as required.
