Job DefinitionService Coordinator Supervisor – oversees operations of The Gateway, an emergency shelter for homeless individuals and crisis clients.
Major Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain order, enforce agency policies, and manage communication.
- Make critical decisions in crisis situations (e.g., calling police).
- Orient and train new staff.
- Ensure client registration, service documentation, and activity logging during shifts.
- Conduct and document supervision, performance evaluations, and on‑call duties.
- Coordinate client assessment, referrals, and program activities.
- Brief staff on significant occurrences, client needs, and staffing assignments.
- Oversee shift meal service preparation, organization, serving, and cleanup.
- Manage volunteer recruitment, supervision, and support.
- Maintain continuous shelter coverage and support coordination between shifts, off‑site locations, and DESC programs.
- Participate in staff meetings and in‑service training.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 2 years of human service, social services, or customer service experience with adults facing homelessness, economic disadvantage, mental illness, and/or substance use disorder, or 1 year of highly relevant experience (incl. DESC work).
- Personal lived experience may substitute for some work requirements.
- Demonstrated de‑escalation ability.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- One year of experience in a DESC setting.
Requires sitting for long periods, walking frequently, rapid movement during de‑escalation, proficient hearing, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Salary Description$89,133.36 – $ annually
