Community Corrections Division Seattle, WA [DOC WFSE Monthly Salary Range 64: $7,066.00 to $9,506.00]

DOC's mission is to improve public safety by positively changing lives. Our agency is looking to fill a full-time, non-permanent Corrections Specialist 4 (CS4) - Community Victim Liaison position within the Community Corrections Division (CCD). This position works for the Victim Services Program and will serve the King County area and will be located within King County. This non-permanent (temporary) appointment is expected to last about five months.

This position may end up teleworking up to three days a week; see the Supplemental Information section below for information.

The Community Victim Liaison works with victims and concerned community members within a specified area of the state to develop, manage, and facilitate plans for their safety, including facilitating multidisciplinary teams (wraparound) meetings ahead of an individual's release into the community. This position helps inform the development and implementation of individual reentry plans, including partial confinement placement and supervision plans for individuals who present a high risk of harm to victims and other specific community members.

This position consults and shares expertise with DOC staff and community partners regarding victim-related concerns and fosters collaborative, strategic partnerships to strengthen the Department's capacity to support the safe reentry of incarcerated individuals into the community. Work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

    Duties
    • Coordinate interagency safety planning for victims of high-risk individuals confined in Department of Corrections facilities, county jails, or living in the community under the supervision of the Department.
    • Collaborate with Corrections Specialists, Classification Counselors, and Community Corrections Officers in risk assessment processes, the development of Supervision Plans, and in re-entry planning to ensure that information from victims is appropriately considered and integrated into these processes.
    • Consult with prison, work release, and field staff in the screening of incarcerated individuals under consideration for placement in partial confinement, to facilitate appropriate consideration of victim and community safety concerns in placement decisions.
    • Develop and maintain a network of collaborative partnerships with victim advocates, criminal justice agencies, and other community-based service providers in support of victim safety during the reentry of high-risk individuals into the community.
    • Provide training to prison, reentry center, and field staff regarding VSP functions and responding effectively to the needs of crime victims.
