JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE:

Employment Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Executive Director, will

Manage a caseload and provide individual supported

Employment services and/or Community Access services for adults with developmental disabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Job Marketing/Development – participate in marketing activities to promote and educate prospective employers and the community about the agency and its services; survey labor market for potential jobs; make regular contacts with employers to develop possible job opportunities.

2. Client Assessment/Job Matching – conduct client assessments to determine skills and abilities and interests; prepare resumes; prepare job analysis of work environments; determine appropriate job placements.

3. Coordination/Collaboration – effectively communicate with clients/parents/employers/client’s co-workers/agency staff/case managers/residential staff/and others involved in the successful transition, training, and follow-up of clients into supported employment.

4. Travel Planning/Transportation – arrange in conjunction with client’s support network transportation to and from work.

5. Technical Knowledge – develop and implement a direct instruction plan for clients at work site: including co-worker training, specific skill training, social integration, and development of natural supports between employer and employee, as well as plans for follow‑up.

6. Written Communication – develop and implement Individual Employment Plans and/or Community Access Plans and 6 month progress reports for each client; data collection and documentation; maintain all on‑the‑job records for staff and client, in a professional, thorough, and timely manner.

7. Other – perform other duties as assigned by director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services field or commensurate training/ experience preferred. Knowledge/experience of supported employment principles and procedures very desirable.

2. A minimum of 1 year of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.

3. Experience in marketing/job development desirable.

4. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

5. Ability to work flexible hours and independently. Good time management skills.

6. Valid Washington State driver’s license. Must have daily access to an automobile for transportation of self and clients. Must have a WA drivers license. Must have verification of auto insurance.

7. Must agree to a Background Check conducted by Washington State.

SALARY: $21
