This role is part of the Blue Origin Engines business unit, focusing on the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of engines and propulsion systems. Our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.
As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will lead a team of software developers to build best-in-class software applications that drive increased efficiency for our engineers within the Blue Engines business unit. You will define coding standard methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products that support the development, delivery, and sustainment of all our engines.
You will be the single-threaded-leader ensuring that the solutions we deliver align with the needs of our business customers and processes.

Responsibilities- You are a proficient leader and insist on the highest standards, taking ownership in everything your team delivers
- You have built strong performing teams of software engineers and are skilled at laying the foundation for an impactful software team
- You instill standard methodologies for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules
- Collaborate effectively with teams to lead the entire product life cycle from planning to implementation
- You are customer-focused and translate abstract or ambiguous requirements into actionable work for your team
- You establish goals and define metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- You encourage others through servant leadership and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
- At least 5 years of experience successfully managing software teams
- Proven skill at developing and deploying production systems that scale to meet significant demand
- Deep understanding of computer science fundamentals like algorithms and data structures
- Strong experience working in an agile development methodology
- Outstanding project management and organizational skills
- Experience with tools such as Git Lab, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Next.js, Python
- Proficiency with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform environments
- Experience in aerospace or manufacturing industry working with sophisticated systems (PLM, ERP, MRP systems)

- Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check may be required for roles on military installations
