As a Robot Systems Software Engineer at Carbon Robotics you will work alongside software, mechanical and electrical peers to build AI and robotics products. You’ll be involved in the design and implementation of robot‑side features and algorithms, and you may need to visit farms to ensure our products are reliable and safe.
Responsibilities- Partner with Engineering teams to build efficient robotic software to support our Laser Weeder robots and future products.
- Build and troubleshoot robot system software and develop tooling to support high‑performance robotics algorithms.
- Improve machine‑learning pipelines and develop features that deliver state‑of‑the‑art AI performance to our robots.
- Work with a fast‑paced, nimble software team on problems that have never been solved before.
- Lead decision making through project planning, task delegation, and problem‑solving efforts to iterate quickly.
- 5+ years of programming in C++ and Python (2+ for Mid‑level) as a System Software Engineer.
- Proficiency with modern Linux development environments (bash, git, docker, etc.).
- Experience with web services (REST/GRPC).
- Experience with robotic and computer‑vision algorithms is beneficial.
- General knowledge of observability tools (e.g., Prometheus ecosystem) is a plus.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work in multidisciplinary teams.
- BS+ in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
Base salary range: $180,000—$200,000 USD. Carbon Robotics offers ancillary compensation through benefits premiums, pre‑IPO stock options, and on‑target earning commissions. Base pay ranges are reviewed annually, and all offers are determined using equitable hiring practices.
