Senior Software Engineer, AI Tools

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience in developing production-grade backend systems or developer-facing tools
• Practical experience with AI/ML technologies, including LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.), prompt engineering, or AI agent development
• Proficient in Go (preferred), Rust, Java, or Python, with strong software engineering foundations
• Experience in designing and building distributed systems, microservices, or platform infrastructure
• Strong understanding of cloud-native systems (AWS, GCP, or Azure), APIs, and data management
• Solid knowledge of CI/CD practices, automated testing, code review processes, and modern development workflows
• Product-focused mindset when creating developer tools, emphasizing user experience and measurable results
• Excellent communication skills, especially in remote and asynchronous settings, with the ability to document technical decisions clearly
• Strong sense of ownership, with a proactive approach and iterative delivery mindset
• Comfortable operating independently across distributed teams and dealing with uncertainty

Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and deploy AI-powered tools that enhance developer productivity, including code review assistants and deployment diagnostic agents
• Build robust integrations with LLM APIs, focusing on prompt engineering, error handling, and performance optimization
• Develop frameworks for agent orchestration, facilitating complex workflows and tool interactions
• Enhance self-service platform capabilities, allowing teams to swiftly deploy and manage AI developer tools
• Create tools and programs promoting the adoption of AI developer solutions within Dockers engineering teams
• Write well-tested code and establish monitoring and operational practices for AI systems
• Collaborate with Principal Engineer on architectural considerations and partner with product and design teams on features and user experience
• Participate in the on-call rotation, handling incidents and improving system reliability
• Mentor fellow engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing, documenting best practices for AI tool development
• Measure the effectiveness of AI tools using metrics and user feedback, iterating to enhance developer experiences
