Job Summary
Senior Database Development Engineer responsible for delivering features in Salesforce Database Archival technology. Build and operate the cloud‑native database platform that supports all core Salesforce traffic.
Responsibilities- Own design and development to deliver technical outcomes on all product and platform‑related issues.
- Help plan backlog and cross‑team dependencies, driving the team to execute the plan.
- Design and develop high‑quality code to improve archival service reliability, availability, quality, performance, and scalability.
- Develop test strategies, design automation frameworks, and write unit/functional tests to increase code coverage and automation metrics.
- Collaborate closely with broader engineering teams, architects, and engineering managers to execute strategy for feature areas, plan backlogs, and enable the Scrum team.
- Own and resolve customer issues with urgency, adhering to customer trust, and troubleshoot issues with the services the team develops and owns, focusing on automation.
- Drive a cross‑team collaborative work environment with other Scrum and engineering teams that fosters autonomy, innovation, learning, respect, and transparency while holding a high bar for delivery.
- BS/MS in computer science or a related field.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Experience developing backup/restore/database features for cloud databases.
- Experience with Scrum in an Agile development environment.
- Prior experience using Kubernetes to build, operate, and manage stateful application clusters.
- Knowledge of infrastructure‑as‑code for large complex systems (Helm/Terraform).
- Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS (EKS, EC2, IAM, VPC, S3).
- Experience using telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence (advantageous).
- Deep knowledge of object‑oriented programming and experience with at least one scripting language:
Java or Python. - Ability to debug, optimize code, and automate routine tasks and tests.
- CI/CD automation experience, including key open‑source technologies such as Jenkins, Spinnaker, and Docker.
- 10+ years in software development, including design, coding, testing, and performance characterization, with 5+ years of related experience.
