The Mobile Team’s mission is to capture and process high-value audio data that powers Read AI’s downstream applications - delivering smarter, real-time insights across a wide range of use cases. Our iOS and Android apps let users instantly capture audio and receive AI-generated transcripts and summaries in real time, helping them stay present and engaged during conversations. As we expand when and where users interact with Read AI, we’re building a seamless cross-device experience so users can record, watch, and access Read AI anywhere. We’re looking for a skilled iOS/Android Software Engineer to lead development of our mobile apps and help shape the future of Read AI.

- Help lead the development of new features and product improvements across iOS (Swift, Swift
UI) and Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose). - Build and enhance real-time audio capture and processing across platforms - leveraging AV Foundation on iOS and Android audio frameworks to ensure high-quality recordings and accurate transcription.
- Optimize performance, reliability, and latency to deliver smooth, real-time AI-powered transcription and summarization.
- Design and implement new AI-powered mobile interactions
, including chat-based experiences that let users explore, query, and take action on their meeting reports and insights. - Partner with product, design, and ML teams to prototype and ship novel mobile UX patterns for conversational AI - making complex information feel intuitive, fast, and useful.
- Implement best practices for security, privacy, data handling, and offline support
, ensuring user trust across both platforms.
- 3-5 years of experience as a software engineer or mobile application developer.
- Demonstrated experience building production mobile apps on iOS (Swift, Swift
UI) and/or Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose); comfort working across both platforms is a plus. - Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns
, state management, and building maintainable UI at scale. - Experience with real-time audio capture and processing
, using AV Foundation (iOS) and/or Android audio APIs
. - Familiarity with background execution, offline storage, and syncing data reliably across devices and network conditions.
- Experience integrating mobile apps with RESTful APIs, Web Sockets
, and event-driven backends. - Excited about building AI-powered user experiences
, including conversational or chat-based interactions that help users explore and act on information. - Strong product instincts and a passion for improving real-world workflows through thoughtful mobile UX.
- Prior experience with real-time audio processing or speech-to-text applications is a bonus.
- Backend development experience in Python, FastAPI, or Node.js.
- Familiarity with Postgre
SQL, Redis, and Celery for handling real-time data and background jobs. - Experience working with AWS, GCP, or Azure for cloud-based infrastructure and services.
- Prior experience in a startup or fast-growing environment.
Software Engineer positions offer a base pay range of $160,000 - $180,000, plus equity and benefits. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer low deductible health plans, as well as flexible time away and family leave programs.
