Job Overview
AWS Outposts is a hybrid cloud offering that brings full Amazon Web Services capabilities to on‑premises environments. The Software Development Engineer on the Frontier Core Platform Team builds and maintains the core infrastructure that drives Outposts services, including networking, EC2 instance platform management, and software deployment for EC2 Edge networking.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, and operate the network routing between AWS regions and Outposts sites.
- Build and maintain EC2 instance platforms that run at customer sites.
- Develop, deploy, and evolve the core infrastructure of AWS Outposts services and EC2 Edge networking instances.
- Participate in on‑call rotations (typically two weeks every 2‑3 months) and perform fault‑tolerant incident response, root‑cause analysis, and post‑mortem work.
- Write and review code daily, ensuring high quality through rigorous code reviews and automated testing.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ship iterations of infrastructure and services.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience for reliability and scalability of systems.
- 1+ year of experience as a software development engineer or equivalent role.
- 1+ year of experience designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed applications in C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- 1+ year of Object‑Oriented Design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
- Experience with at least one software programming language.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, test, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Competitive base salary ranging from $143,700 to $194,400 annually for the Seattle, WA location.
