Introduction to the Team
Expedia Technology teams partner with Product teams to create innovative products, services, and tools that deliver high‑quality experiences for travelers, partners, and employees. The Software Development Engineer III role is part of the Payments Reconciliation team within Expedia Global Payments, under the Book‑to‑Trip division. This team builds and maintains consumer reconciliation services and the administrative tools that configure our consumer payments ecosystem, ensuring operational health of payment processing on the platform.
Responsibilities- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend payment services that support Expedia’s global travel platform
- Apply software design principles, data structures, design patterns, and computer science fundamentals to write clean, maintainable, optimized, modular code with good naming conventions
- Implement secure data handling practices to protect payment information and meet compliance standards
- Recommend and apply architectural patterns or GenAI capabilities to improve system design and innovation
- Enhance service reliability through observability, automation, and continuous operational improvements
- Lead and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to deliver high‑impact features aligned with Expedia’s strategic goals
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with significant hands‑on experience building and operating distributed cloud services
- Proficiency in Java/J2EE, C#, or similar object‑oriented languages, and hands‑on experience integrating services with relational and No
SQL databases - Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure/test automation, and delivering features in Agile development environments
- Experience working on payment platforms or implementing backend services leveraging GenAI technologies
- Experience contributing to multiple multi‑quarter, cross‑team projects
- Experience supporting complex distributed systems in production through monitoring, debugging, incident resolution, and root‑cause analysis
- Demonstrated experience designing and deploying scalable services in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
This role is only available in Seattle, WA. Employees must be in‑office at least three days a week. No relocation assistance is offered. Total cash range: $146,000 to $204,500; potential to increase up to $233,500 based on performance.
