Expedia Group’s Identity organization builds the authentication, authorization, and account experiences that power secure access across our brands. We own the core platforms and user interfaces that let travelers sign up, sign in, and manage their account on web and mobile.

About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Engineering Manager (front‑end) to lead a team focused on the Identity web and mobile app experience.

What you’ll do
  • Lead and grow a frontend engineering team delivering high‑quality identity experiences across brands.
  • Own the frontend architecture for Identity web and app surfaces, driving decisions on frameworks, shared components, design systems, performance, and experimentation.
  • Raise the bar on UX and performance by partnering with product and design to build fast, accessible, and secure flows.
  • Own problems end‑to‑end from user experience through client‑side architecture, APIs, and integration with backend services.
  • Champion engineering excellence: code quality, testing strategy, observability, incident readiness, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop, coach, and support engineers through feedback, growth opportunities, and alignment to Expedia Group values.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to align roadmaps, unblock dependencies, and deliver coherent end‑to‑end identity experiences.
  • Influence product strategy with a technical and traveler‑centric perspective.
  • Drive responsible use of AI and automation in the frontend domain, in line with governance practices.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience, including significant time building and shipping modern web applications at scale.
  • 5+ years of people‑management experience leading software engineers.
  • Strong experience with modern frontend technologies (React, Type Script/JavaScript, build tooling, testing frameworks).
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex product surfaces end‑to‑end, collaborating with Product and Design.
  • Proven track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineers.
  • Solid understanding of web performance, accessibility, reliability best practices.
  • Experience working in cross‑functional, agile product teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading teams in identity, authentication, security, privacy, or payments.
  • Deep knowledge of frontend architecture at scale.
  • Hands‑on experience with observability and quality in the frontend stack.
  • Familiarity with mobile and cross‑platform identity experiences.
  • Experience integrating AI or ML solutions with safeguards.
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and navigate conflicting priorities.
Pay

Seattle: $184,500 – $258,000 (potential up to $295,000 based on performance). San Jose: $199,000 – $278,500 (potential up to $318,500).
