Job Description
At Remitly, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to access, move, and manage their money wherever life takes them. Whether it's supporting loved ones back home, growing a business across continents, or pursuing new opportunities abroad, we're not just here to move money— we're here to move our global customers forward.
We're looking for builders, reimaginers, and global thinkers who want to work at the intersection of technology, trust, and transformation. If that's you and you're ready to do the most meaningful work of your career—we invite you to join over 2,800 passionate Remitlians worldwide who are united by our vision to transform lives with trusted financial services that transcend borders.
the Role
As a Software Development Engineer on the Growth team, you'll build the systems that earn the trust of Remitly's high value senders. These are customers moving large transfers for real estate, education, long-term investments, and other milestones that shape their financial futures across borders. This full‑stack role spans customer‑facing web and mobile experiences and deep partnership with foundational teams across identity and trust, money movement, pricing, and more.
You'll partner with product, design, and engineering peers to define what it means to earn customer trust on their most consequential transfers — for customers sending more, with more on the line. You will report to the Engineering Manager for the team. This role is hybrid and based in Seattle, WA.
- Build with the customer in mind by applying customer context and data to your technical decision‑making.
- Ship reliable, observable, and scalable features across the High Value Send experience — with depth in one area of the stack (web, mobile, or backend) and growing fluency across the others.
- Contribute to systems that meet availability and latency SLOs for the customer flows where trust matters most.
- Partner with product, design, data, and partner engineering teams — surfacing technical trade‑offs early to ship features for a diverse global customer base.
- Strengthen team culture through code review, design discussions, and mentoring SDE1s and interns.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience, with experience building features or components end‑to‑end and delivering production code on a team.
- Experience building customer‑facing experiences with Type Script and React, or native mobile development (iOS/Android, React Native).
- Proficiency in one or more modern backend languages such as Java, Kotlin, Go, or Python, with a record of delivering production‑quality code.
- Experience contributing to distributed, large‑scale systems with a working understanding of service‑oriented architecture.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, including familiarity with managed services.
- Bonus:
Experience in Fin Tech, payments, or other regulated industries where reliability, security, and compliance shape engineering decisions.
The starting base salary range for this position is typically $144,000 - $180,000.
Benefits- Flexible paid time off
- Health, dental, and vision + 401k plan with company matching
- Paid parental, medical, military and family care leave
- Mental Health & Family Forming Benefits
- Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
- Continuing education benefits
