Senior or Lead Java Engineer

Our client is seeking an Senior-Lead Level Java engineer for engineering and delivery of microservices and API's to support Customer Data. The team supports various mid-layer services across the organization and to external partners and is seeking a strong Java Engineer with cloud experience.
Best qualified candidates will have strong experiences in Java 8+, Cloud, Containerization, Data Streaming, and Agile/Scrum.

Job Duties -

• Be an active participant in all scrum ceremonies and lead in the delivery of the strategic roadmap.

• Help define project scope & specifications, and estimate resources required to develop the proposed solution.

• Ensure that specifications and requirements are clearly articulated to the development teams and monitor timelines & progress.

• Propose technical solutions.

• Delivery of well-designed, high-quality, fully functional, properly tested features, fixes, and enhancements.

• Responsible for the full application development lifecycle and support.

• Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.

• Support continuous improvement by investigating alternatives and new technologies and presenting these for architectural review.

• Troubleshooting and debugging to optimize performance.

• Provide subject matter expertise and direction, guidance, and support on complex engagements.

Job Requirements -

• 7+ years of engineering

• 6+ years experience with Java 8+

• 4+ years experience with Spring Boot

• 4+ years experience with Containers (Docker and orchestration, ie: Kubernetes or EKS or Redhat)

• 4+ years experience with Azure or AWS

• Strong understanding of microservices and HTTP/REST

• 4+ years experience with test automation (jbehave, cucumber, selenium, junit)

• 4+ years experience in an Agile/Scrum team (backlog refinement, standups, code reviews, JIRA or ADO etc.)

Desired Skills & Experience -

• Streaming/messaging:
Kafka, NATS, Kinesis, or Event Hub are strongly desired

• Datadog or New Relic a plus

• Elastic Search a plus

• Apigee a plus
