Junior Design Engineer, Americas

Design Engineer at Ashby is a hybrid role that combines design and front‑end engineering to build and ship user‑centred product features at large scale.

• Design, prototype and implement new UI/UX components and flows that ship to our customers.
• Create and maintain a flexible, composable component library that other teams use to build consistent product experiences.
• Consult with product engineers on end‑to‑end features, translating design intent into functional code while ensuring accessibility and performance.
• Iterate on information hierarchy and visual design to improve usability for recruiters and hiring managers.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and research teams to incorporate customer feedback into design decisions.

• Junior Design Engineer – 0–2 years of industry experience as a designer or engineer. Portfolio of at least a couple real‑world projects with demonstrated visual taste and a growing UI/UX skill set.
• Mid / Senior Design Engineer – 2 + years of continuous experience as an engineer or designer. Strong proficiency in both disciplines and a record of shipping code to hundreds of users.
• Staff Design Engineer – Proven track record of leading design‑engineering work for a product‑system; major contributions to a design system and user‑facing features that have been iterated on based on feedback.
• Technical expertise: excellent Type Script, React, and CSS skills. Knowledge of backend technologies (Node.js, GraphQL, Postgres, Redis) is a plus.

• Proficiency with Type Script, React, and CSS.
• Experience building reusable component libraries or design systems.
• Ability to translate wireframes and design systems into clean, maintainable code.
• Comfort with full‑stack development is a bonus.

Compensation Range: $98K – $165K.
