Senior Frontend Engineer

Overview

As a Senior Frontend Engineer in Bristol Myers Squibb ’s AI Venture Studio delivery team, you will develop AI‑driven React applications, building chat, copilot, workflow, evaluation, and human‑in‑the‑loop interfaces that deliver trustworthy, enterprise‑ready experiences.

• Lead frontend technical delivery for AI Accelerator projects, from rapid prototyping to production‑adjacent hardening.
• Build React and Type Script experiences for chat, copilots, workflow automation, and evaluation workflows.
• Design user interfaces that display streaming AI responses, citations, confidence scores, and provide human‑in‑the‑loop workflows.
• Integrate frontends with BMS‑hosted services and partner teams to create clean API contracts, streaming patterns and telemetry.
• Define reusable component patterns, starter templates and enterprise standards for accessibility, security, performance and maintainability.
• Write unit, component, integration and end‑to‑end test suites using Vitest/Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright or Cypress.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build/release processes and environment configuration in partnership with platform teams.
• Collaborate with product owners, scientists, stakeholders and engineers to translate AI opportunities into usable product experiences, refining priorities and backlog based on feedback.
• Provide technical coaching through code reviews, design reviews, architecture guidance and delivery standards.
• Use AI‑assisted development tools while maintaining strong validation and security practices.

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Design Technology, Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of frontend or full‑stack engineering with increasing responsibility and depth in frontend.
• Expertise in React, Type Script/JavaScript, modern component architecture, state management, HTML/CSS, accessibility, performance and responsive design.
• Experience building AI‑powered product experiences such as chat, copilot, workflow, evaluation or human‑in‑the‑loop interfaces.
• Experience with lightweight rapid‑prototype frameworks (e.g., Streamlit) and enterprise React applications.
• Strong background integrating frontends with REST, GraphQL, Web Sockets or other streaming patterns.
• Familiarity with enterprise auth patterns (OAuth/OIDC, SSO), secure token handling, observability and production readiness.
• Knowledge of AWS‑hosted application patterns, CI/CD, environment configuration and Git Hub‑based workflows.
• Experience with automated testing and quality practices across unit, component, integration and end‑to‑end tests.
• Effective use of coding agents or AI‑assisted tools (Git Hub Copilot, Claude Code, Gemini CLI, etc.).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and business audiences.
• Curiosity, learning mindset and excitement for emerging AI technologies.
