Amazon S3 is the storage for the internet, and Amazon S3 Tables deliver the first cloud object store with built‑in Apache Iceberg support and streamline storing tabular data at scale.

The role is focused on leading engineering teams in large‑scale data management, actively contributing to the Apache Iceberg project, and shaping the future of open table formats.

• Collaborate with cross‑disciplinary teams to conceive, design, and deliver innovative products and services.
• Design and build scalable technologies in a large distributed computing environment.
• Investigate design approaches, prototype new technologies, and evaluate technical feasibility.
• Define the engineering roadmap and drive architectural simplification to ensure durability, availability, and maintainability.
• Deliver high‑quality software in an agile environment.
• Create and nurture a team culture that allows individuals to perform at their best.

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams.
• 3+ years of designing or architecting new or existing systems.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns across the full software development life cycle.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

• Communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe product features.
• Recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve skills and product quality.
