The AWS Shield team protects AWS infrastructure and millions of customers from sophisticated DDoS attacks. As a software developer on this team, you will design next‑generation security architecture, develop real‑time threat detection and mitigation solutions, and collaborate with research, response, and infrastructure teams to defend large‑scale, globally distributed services.

• Design future AWS security architecture and protect traffic on a global scale.
• Architect new protection mechanisms that will safeguard AWS and its customers for years to come.
• Work on green‑field and existing projects that shape how we detect, mitigate, and prevent attacks at unprecedented scale and in real time.
• Collaborate closely with research and DDoS response teams to build solutions that counter Layer 3/4 and Layer 7 attacks more effectively.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems, focusing on reliability and scaling.
• 1+ year of software development engineer or related experience.
• 1+ year of experience designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ year of object‑oriented design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Proficient in at least one software programming language.

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in computer science.
