Software Development Engineer II, SKG Team

Job :  | Amazon Data Services, Inc.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Amazon's global data center infrastructure generates millions of operational alarms daily, and right now most of the triage, analysis, and routing of those alarms requires significant human effort from engineering operations teams. The SKG team within DC BRIDGE is building intelligent systems that fundamentally change how data center engineers interact with alarm data: reducing noise, automating triage, and applying generative AI to surface actionable insights from complex operational signals.

This is a builder role on a team that ships. We’re a small team of SDEs with a senior technical leader setting direction, and we deploy to production multiple times per week. As an SDE2 you’ll own features end‑to‑end — design, code, test, deploy, operate — and contribute meaningfully to the team’s technical decisions. The technology strategy for GenAI is still being shaped, which means your design proposals and prototypes will directly influence what we build next.

Tech stack:
Type Script (primary for CDK and service code), Python (data processing, Lambda functions, AI service integration). AWS services include Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, S3, Cloud Watch, Amazon Bedrock, API Gateway, and Route 53. CI/CD runs on Amazon’s internal build, test, and deployment tooling.

Key job responsibilities
  • Build services in the Data Center Alarming Platform that transform an alarm firehose into actionable signals, implementing suppression, correlation, and deduplication logic across hundreds of data centers. Own features end‑to‑end and make implementation decisions.
  • Build integrations with Amazon Bedrock for natural‑language alarm summarization, pattern detection, and triage assistance. Integrate and orchestrate AI services, prototype, measure, and iterate.
  • Contribute to the Automated Triage and Ticketing Engine, creating services that classify, prioritize, and route alarms to appropriate data center engineering operations teams with contextual information for faster resolution.
  • Define infrastructure as code using AWS CDK, write constructs, wire up pipelines, and own the operational health of deployments.
  • Participate in design reviews, authoring designs and providing meaningful feedback on others’ work, bringing proposals and trade‑off analysis.
  • Mentor SDE1s through code review, pairing, and coaching to grow into autonomous contributors; train new teammates on system functionality and its broader context.
About the team

SKG sits within the DC BRIDGE organization, building software platforms that support Amazon’s data center engineering operations worldwide. Our systems directly impact the reliability and efficiency of the physical infrastructure that powers AWS and Amazon’s global services. The team is led by Eleanor Scott and operates with high ownership and autonomy over its services end‑to‑end.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems.
  • 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or…
