You’ll also:
- Shape the automation future in networking.
- Develop Dev Ops and automation tasks for test infrastructure.
- Use and develop tools and processes that collect and rationalize data from different sources and frameworks that reduce workloads.
- Use data to measure success and take responsibility for the quality of your service; strive to prevent faults from impacting your customers.
- Develop best‑in‑class software systems for automating Amazon’s network.
- Work closely with Network Engineering teams to ensure fast and smooth software roll‑outs.
- Identify and troubleshoot recurring platform issues with effective escalation to senior‑level engineering teams.
- Learn, design, and build cloud‑computing system software for a diverse set of customers.
You will be a hands‑on technical contributor. You will work with customers to gather requirements and generate technical designs, and you will carry the project through all the software lifecycle stages. You’ll develop products that enable builders to develop and operate robust, high‑quality software and safely, securely, and reliably deploy it. You will use your strong leadership and communication skills to mentor other engineers and provide training and support for our technologies.
You will have access to senior leadership and engineering staff.
The FAROS (Fleet Automation and Release Orchestration Services) team leads critical initiatives that power AWS’s network infrastructure deployment and reliability. We develop intelligent automation systems that seamlessly deploy operating systems, configurations, firmware, and features across AWS’s global datacenter network. Our innovative anomaly detection capabilities help safeguard network stability by proactively identifying and containing potential issues. As a cornerstone of AWS’s networking infrastructure, we collaborate across organizational boundaries to build resilient, scalable solutions that enhance deployment reliability while reducing production defects.
BasicQualifications
- 3+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
- 2+ years of experience designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
- 1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience.
- 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
- 1+ year of Object Oriented Design experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
The base salary range for this position in Seattle, Washington is – USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and optional Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
