Sr. Systems Dev Engineer, AI & Strategic Partner Engineering; AWS

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. is looking for a Senior Systems Development Engineer to join our AI & Strategic Partner Engineering team within the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization. You will design, develop, and own back‑end subsystems that enable SAP workloads on AWS, create AI agents that automate operational tasks, and build customer‑facing APIs that serve millions of applications worldwide.

• Own your team's systems end‑to‑end: identify risks, decompose complex problems, set engineering standards, and drive cross‑team alignment.
• Design, implement, deploy, and maintain distributed system software that improves service security, durability, availability, performance, and cost‑efficiency for SAP workloads.
• Create and manage purpose‑built AI agents that triage alarms, diagnose root causes, analyze build pipelines, and monitor fleet health.
• Ensure AI‑assisted systems run reliably in production, degrade gracefully under failure, and meet the resilience bar required for mission‑critical SAP workloads.
• Own full‑stack delivery from design through production, lead architecture and operational reviews, and influence roadmaps with data and credibility.
• Communicate clearly with teammates, customers, and partners; represent the team externally to service teams and leadership.
• Collaborate with product, security, and AI research teams; contribute to architecture reviews and iterative development.
• Partner with experts when required expertise is beyond your own; own problems and bring the right solution to the table.
• Travel as needed to partner sites.

You will identify partner pain points and make architectural decisions that blend resilience, scalability, security, and innovation. You will build agents to investigate production issues end‑to‑end, validate them through testing, and iterate based on real operational data. You will lead design reviews, troubleshoot failed distributed failures with AI‑assisted diagnostics, and document decisions to empower future teams.

• 6+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 6+ years of designing or architecting new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability, scalability).
• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, Power Shell, or Ruby.
• Expertise in SAP domain, including ABAP programming and SAP system architecture.
• Experience building with AI/ML technologies, including large language models or agentic systems; ability to apply AI tools to operational tasks.
• Experience leading technology solutions across multiple teams and breaking complex problems into deliverable projects.

• Deep knowledge of AWS services (compute, storage, networking, security, databases, machine learning, serverless). Experience architecting solutions across multiple AWS domains.
