We are looking for passionate and curious engineers to innovate with us on behalf of our customers. In this role, you will work with our senior engineers to design and implement systems that orchestrate thousands of databases. You will build a foundational platform consisting of web service APIs and workflows which make Aurora highly available, scalable, reliable and fast. This is a unique and rare opportunity to get in on the ground floor within a fast‑growing AWS service, have an impact on the product direction and the shape of the database technology.

The role focuses on architecture, design, and implementation of highly scalable distributed database systems that provide availability, reliability, and performance guarantees. You will build robust system software components, mentor junior engineers, and lead communication and customer focus efforts. You will own the design and development of significant system software components critical to our industry‑leading database services.

• 5+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems (design patterns, reliability and scaling)
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is  –  USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
