Amazon Aurora Serverless is an on‑demand, auto‑scaling configuration for Amazon Aurora that automatically starts up, shuts down, and scales capacity based on application needs, with no downtime. In this role you will work with senior engineers to design and implement systems that orchestrate thousands of databases, creating a foundational platform of web service APIs and workflows that make Aurora highly available, scalable, reliable, and fast.

These are core systems development positions where you will grow to own the design and development of significant system software components critical to our industry‑leading database services architected for the cloud. You will act as part of the team that architects, designs, and implements highly scalable distributed database systems that provide availability, reliability, and performance guarantees. This hands‑on position will involve building rock‑solid components, mentoring other engineers, and excelling in communication, leadership, and customer focus.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
• 1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, multi‑threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ year of Object Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

Base salary range: USD  –  annually (Seattle, WA). Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
