Software Engineer - Host Access

Overview

Seattle, Washington, United States — Software and Services. The Apple Services Engineering Security (ASE Security) team builds and provides secure systems and infrastructure that support Apple’s services (such as iCloud, Music, Siri, and the App Store). As part of the ASE Security team, you will help define and build software to meet the security needs of Apple’s services worldwide. You will contribute by building foundational components securely to ensure Apple’s infrastructure protects data.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help address a variety of security challenges in the software foundational infrastructure and to play a meaningful role in maintaining the highest security standards for Apple’s services.

• Write and own software that runs on Apple’s server infrastructure to ensure strong security throughout the stack.
• Design, implement, and operate services and applications for security use cases, focusing on security authorization and access controls at scale.
• Distill ambiguous use cases and requirements into concrete software solutions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders; contribute to a collaborative, fast-paced team environment.

• Consistent record of delivering high-quality enterprise software (5+ years of experience).
• Experience writing applications in Rust, C++, C, and/or Go.
• Solid understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
• Knowledgeable in distributed systems design patterns and security implications, plus common infrastructure components including: network architecture, server fleet provisioning and configuration, out-of-band management, storage, load balancing, virtualization, and Kubernetes.
• In-depth knowledge of technologies such as SSL, TCP/IP, caching solutions, X.509 certificates, and performance tuning of systems applications.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented and SOA design concepts.
• Experience with Linux and shell scripting.
• Experience designing and managing systems with high performance, scalability, and availability.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment on fast-paced projects.

• BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $142,300 and $263,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
