Staff Software Engineer, Gemini App, Data Engineering, Deep Mind

We are looking for a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to lead the design and scaling of Gemini App’s data pipelines, ensuring reliable and accurate telemetry across all Gemini surfaces. You will work directly with Data Science, model release, model quality and feature teams, as well as teams across Deep Mind, to drive engineering initiatives and deliver critical metrics and training data at a large global scale.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 8 years of software development experience

• Experience with Apache Spark, Flink, Beam, Airflow, Big Query, Snowflake, or similar infrastructure
• Experience developing, debugging, and supporting large‑scale data pipelines
• Experience with distributed data processing frameworks and workflow orchestration tools
• Experience in Go or C++
• Experience in a technical lead or similar role, setting technical direction for a small group of engineers
• Ability to address daily business data requirements and clear development obstacles to support Gemini App growth

• Architect and build scalable batch and real‑time pipelines that power experimentation, product analytics, and ML/AI training loops
• Own data quality, reliability, and observability end‑to‑end, including defining and operating SLAs/SLOs for critical production datasets
• Mentor and grow other engineers, raising the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and actionable feedback
• Drive cross‑functional engineering initiatives that span multiple teams, translating ambiguous requirements into technical designs
• Work closely with Data Science counterparts to define and drive the goals for a modern data warehouse

US: $207,000 – $301,000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits.
