Software Engineer, ECS; AWS

Overview

We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to contribute to the AWS Service Mesh and Container Networking offerings, specifically the ECS Service Connect platform. The role involves building core services, integrating with AWS technologies, and collaborating across teams and customers to shape the future of ECS.

• Build and maintain core services for ECS Service Connect.
• Integrate services with other AWS technologies and open‑source software.
• Define industry terms and set architectural direction for application networking and service mesh.
• Design features that scale globally and meet security standards.
• Partner with product managers, customers, open source maintainers, and partners to deliver high‑quality services.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience for new and existing systems.
• Programming expertise in at least one language.

• Full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience with networking fundamentals.
• Knowledge of Envoy, service meshes, and container networking is a plus.
