Software Development Engineer II, AWS Activate

The AWS Activate Program is a suite of resources and support designed to help startups grow on AWS. At AWS, we personalize the experience for each startup by providing service credits, technical training, mentorship, growth benefits, and more.

We are looking for a skilled developer to help build ground‑up applications that empower the Startup ACE community. The role is part of the Startup ACE (Acquisition & Customer Experience) team, which manages AWS Activate and the Startups.

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience (patterns, reliability, scalability)
• 1+ year as a software development engineer or related role
• 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, distributed software using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ year of object‑oriented design experience
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field
• Experience programming with at least one software language

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience (coding standards, code reviews, source control, build, testing, operations)
• Master’s degree in computer science or equivalent
• Knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, including transformer architecture and training/inference life cycles
• Passion for customer experience and usability, with a track record of delivering self‑service tools and automated service optimization

Base salary range:  –  USD annually (Seattle, WA, USA).
