Overview
Software Development Engineer, Transactional Services (Database & Distributed Systems) k on an in-house distributed database system that serves demanding AWS services, focusing on designing and developing novel, distributed, highly available, and scalable database technologies. Collaborate with SDEs in design reviews, problem solving, and customer-facing support, while staying current with evolving technologies and exploring new approaches with the team.
Responsibilities- Solve challenging technical problems across multiple layers of the software stack.
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain software solutions to improve service performance, durability, cost, and security.
- Build high-quality, highly available, always-on products and research implementations that enhance customer experiences.
- Collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders to drive impactful outcomes for a global customer base.
- Engage with customers to understand needs and provide operational support where required.
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and cross-functional problem solving.
- Design and code solutions to improve software architecture, create metrics, and implement automation to resolve root causes of defects.
- Develop high-impact solutions for a large customer base and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work cross-functionally to inform business decisions with technical input and operate in a fast-paced development environment.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience applying design patterns, reliability, and scaling to new or existing systems.
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- Experience programming in at least one programming language.
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices across the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, architectures, code reviews, source control, continuous deployment, testing, and operational excellence.
- Experience with distributed database systems and concepts such as ACID transactions, consensus protocols, durability, replication, and storage engine architecture.

The base salary range is listed below. The compensation package includes sign-on payments and RSUs. Final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
