Senior Full Stack Software Engineer – Catalogs, Hierarchy, OrgMDM

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate services and user interfaces central to Nordstrom's product data ecosystem.
• Work across the entire stack — from React-based internal tools to Java microservices.
• Own microservices that power catalog management, hierarchical classification, and organizational master data.
• Create React-based applications for managing catalogs and governance.
• Build validation, canonicalization, and entity resolution capabilities for data consistency.
• Participate in on-call rotations and drive operational excellence through runbooks and alerting.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and mentor engineers on the team.

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant delivery of both backend services and frontend applications.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Engineering, or Data Engineering.
• Strong verbal, written and diagramming communication skills.
• Proficient in more than one programming language.
• Strong backend fundamentals. Comfortable designing and building microservices in Java or Kotlin.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Temporal is a strong plus.
• Modern frontend skills. Experience in production React applications with Type Script.
• Familiarity with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and defining infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• Understanding of distributed systems and tradeoffs of eventual consistency.
• Ownership mentality and collaborative mindset.
