Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Software Dev Engineer, Benefits Experience and Technology (BXT)

Role Summary

This posting is for a software lead on one of BETS’ two largest product bets. As a Software Development Engineer II, you will own the design, development, and delivery of AI‑native capabilities that power these products.

You will build real distributed systems and agentic experiences on top of them, using Java and Type Script on AWS (Lambda, DynamoDB, and more). You will leverage Amazon Bedrock Agent Core for agent runtime and MCP for composable skills, writing specs and acceptance criteria, directing coding agents through the build loop, and proving your work against realistic customer segments with simulation testing before a human reviews it.

Product

Focus
  • A reimagined health plan that uses AI as a strategic partner for members, providing real‑time answers such as in‑network doctors, out‑of‑pocket cost estimates, claim explanations, and next‑step recommendations.
  • An agentic workforce for benefits operations that automates the routine tasks of managing dozens of programs, vendors, and budgets, allowing benefits staff to focus on decision‑making and strategy.
Responsibilities
  • Own end‑to‑end design, development, and delivery of the product’s capabilities.
  • Build and maintain distributed, scalable systems on AWS.
  • Write and enforce specifications and acceptance criteria; direct coding agents through the build loop.
  • Validate work against realistic customer segments with simulation testing.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation and own the operational health of your services.
  • Collaborate closely with product, design, and data teams to ship features that meet user needs.
Expectations
  • Strong product‑design sense and technical judgment in system‑design.
  • Experience with Java, Type Script, and AWS serverless services.
  • Ability to work in small teams with high ownership density and deadline‑driven releases.
  • Comfortable building green‑field, 0‑to‑1 systems in a regulated domain.
  • Curiosity about building and iterating agentic workflows rather than simply scripting prompts.
Benefits

In return you will build rare, portable depth: regulated, large‑scale platforms and production agentic systems, and the judgment to direct them.
