Software Development Engineer II, AWS Activate

Overview

The AWS Activate Program provides startups the resources they need to grow successfully on AWS. We do this by understanding the uniqueness of each startup that applies, and then personalizing the resources we make available to them. Our resources include AWS service credits, Business Support credits, technical education and training, opportunities for business and technical mentorship from Amazonians and fellow startups, and personalized growth benefits.

The goal of Activate is to level the playing field for startup founders worldwide.

The AWS Activate team is looking for a developer who wants to change the way we help startups get started in AWS. We are obsessed with building tools and applications that startups need to be successful  strive to bring new tools, features, and innovations to the startup community, using modern architectures, new service patterns, and exciting technologies to meet our customers’ expectations for performance, availability, and performance.

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non‑internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling of new and existing systems)
• 1+ year of software development engineer or related occupational experience
• 1+ year of designing and developing large‑scale, multi‑tiered, distributed software applications or services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl
• 1+ year of Object‑Oriented Design experience
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
• Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference life cycles, and optimization techniques
• Passion for customer experience and usability, including successful delivery of customer self‑service tools and automated management/optimization of services, with a strong service orientation

Base salary for this position ranges from  –  USD annually in Seattle, WA. Additional compensation includes sign‑on payments, restricted stock units, and other perks as outlined in the job posting.
