Amazon Neptune is a fast, scalable, fully‑managed graph database service that enables building and running applications that work with highly connected datasets. The core of Neptune is a purpose‑built, high‑performance graph database engine optimized for storing hundreds of billions of relationships and querying with milliseconds latency. Neptune supports graph use cases such as recommendation engines, fraud detection, knowledge graphs, drug discovery, and network security.

• Design and deliver new algorithms and features to enhance Neptune's high availability, reliability, and performance guarantees.
• Participate in project execution to develop database service capabilities with a focus on scalability and fault tolerance.
• Build high‑impact solutions for a large customer base, ensuring efficient and reliable operation.
• Engage in design discussions, code reviews, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Work cross‑functionally to provide technical input that drives business decisions.
• Implement automation and other improvements to increase efficiencies and resolve root causes of software defects.
• Operate in a startup‑like development environment, prioritizing the most critical work.

• 5+ years of professional software development experience (non‑internship).
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or in a leadership role within an engineering team.
• Knowledge of database internals, query planning and optimization, and/or storage performance and efficiency.

• 5+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
