YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Java Developer must have:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University is preferred. - Alternative Path:
If the candidate does not possess a relevant four-year degree, an additional four years of relevant work experience will be required. - Required Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of Information Technology experience. - Participate in the project planning and development process.
- Assist or lead in preparing programming specifications and in developing coding logic.
- Design, code, test, and debug software application, independently.
- Maintains highly complex and technical applications and systems.
- Translating business and technical requirements into application architecture.
- Implement and maintain Dev Sec Ops (CI/CD).
- Performs other job-related tasks as assigned or required to support the duties outlined.
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Java with hands‑on experience developing, testing, and deploying enterprise applications.
- Solid understanding of object‑oriented programming, design principles, and software engineering best practices.
- Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs and integrating with external services.
- Proficiency with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data, and/or Spring Security).
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL; familiarity with ORM tools (e.g., Hibernate/JPA).
- Experience with version control systems such as Git, including branching and pull‑request workflows.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and deliver high‑quality, maintainable code in a collaborative environment.
- Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC):
Familiarity with agile methodologies, testing, and debugging. - Developing APIs per OpenAPI Specification.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.
Skills:
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure,)
- Exposure to front‑end technologies such as JavaScript, React, Angular, or Type Script.
- Understanding of Dev Ops practices, including Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Git Hub Actions, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with API design standards, authentication protocols and security best practices.
- Experience with performance tuning, profiling, and optimizing applications.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance and successfully pass a thorough Government background screening process requiring the completion of detailed forms and fingerprinting.
