We're seeking a dynamic and customer-obsessed Software Development Manager to lead the charge in designing, developing, and maintaining highly scalable distributed services for Ads Marketing org. As a key player in our organization, you'll partner with PMs, TPMs, Scientists, and Engineers to shape the future of Ads Marketing technology.

Key job responsibilities

- Lead and mentor a team of 13+ software engineers building the communication platform that powers all of Ads organization at scale for sending marketing and transactional communications.

- Partner with Product, Science and Marketing teams to define and execute the technical roadmap.

- Drive technical strategy, architecture decisions, and long term vision for 40+ services spanning across front-end, back-end, big data and agentic AI space.

- Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality metrics while fostering a culture of operational excellence and builder empowerment.

Team Management

- Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through hiring, coaching, and career development

- Foster an inclusive team culture that encourages innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning

- Manage sprint planning, resource allocation, and delivery timelines across multiple work-streams

- Provide regular feedback and growth opportunities to team members

About the team

MEI is an engineering organization with the mission to enhance the Amazon Ads advertiser experience by delivering personalized, relevant, and engaging content across marketing channels to accelerate advertisers' desired business outcomes at each lifecycle stage. In support of this mission, we enable nine distinct marketing channels including:  (A20M), Amazon Ads Academy (AAA), Email, SC, VC, AAC, KDP Portal Experiences, SMS, and WeChat.

These channels are supported by our marketing infrastructure services and internal communication tooling products including Optimo, which is a communication creation and management tool that enables Amazon Ads teams to communicate with advertisers WW across email and in-UI channels.

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience

- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
