Chipton-Ross is seeking a Software Engineer for a contract opportunity in Seattle, WA.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus in Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • 2+ years of experience working with Real-Time Operating Systems
  • 2+ years of experience with C/C++ software for real-time embedded systems
  • 2+ years of experience with Application Development
  • Experience in experimental data acquisition, instrumentation, and analysis
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with a team of engineers to design, architect, develop, and support real-time data management solutions for storing, streaming, processing, and visualizing high-throughput sensor data
  • Deliver solutions that span the entire software development lifecycle, from design to production, and multiple deployment paradigms including CLI tools, native (Windows), and web applications
  • Interface with data acquisition hardware (transducers, DAQ devices) to pull and process data
  • Design and implement intuitive user experiences for data visualization and analysis
  • Build clean, well-tested APIs and streaming pipelines for high-throughput time-series data
  • Collaborate directly with customers and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Provide technical leadership through code reviews, mentorship, architecture design,
  • Build and maintain deployment, CI/CD, observability, and database infrastructure
  • Help define product roadmap and priorities
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

As a member of the development team, you will develop and maintain software and hardware platforms for acquiring, processing, storing, and visualizing high-volume sensor and time-series data. The systems you deliver will feed critical test results from wind tunnels, test stands, and other facilities into engineering workflows, enabling data-driven decisions that validate and improve aircraft designs. Duties may include (but are not limited to):

  • 7 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ or C# (or similar)
  • Experience with native application development for Windows (C# and .NET, C++ and Qt, or similar)
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite, or similar)
  • Proficient in modern version control systems (Git, Git Lab, or similar)
  • Proficient with containerization technologies (Docker or similar)
  • Proficient in Python, JavaScript/Type Script, MATLAB, or other programming languages
  • Experience with data acquisition and processing systems (transducers, control systems, IoT devices, DAQ hardware, or similar)
  • Comfortable developing and operating on Windows and Linux environments
  • Experience with modern testing practices and tools (unit testing, TDD, etc.)
  • Familiar with continuous integration and deployment platforms (Git Lab CI, CircleCI, Git Hub Actions, or similar)
  • Experience with time-series file formats (HDF5, TDMS, or similar)
  • Experience with native data visualization libraries
REQUIRED

EDUCATION:

Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification)
In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

WORK HOURS:

FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
