Build the scalable, high-performance systems that power natural language understanding, personalization, and ML-driven advertising experiences for hundreds of millions of Amazon shoppers worldwide. You'll architect the services and infrastructure behind new ads experiences that help shoppers make the most informed purchase decisions - partnering with scientists to design, build, and deploy production systems serving machine learning models at scale.

The Search Thematic Advertising Experiences team within Sponsored Products is re-imagining how customers discover products and engage with brands through generative AI. We continuously explore new contexts and creatives where advertising delivers value to both shoppers and advertisers - building globally across  and beyond. You'll translate business and scientific requirements into robust, maintainable software solutions, build APIs and data pipelines, and instrument systems to measure how shoppers and advertisers respond to changes.

This is a fast-paced, customer-obsessed team of engineers, technologists, product leaders, and scientists focused on continuous innovation.

Key job responsibilities

- Build large-scale, low-latency distributed systems that power natural language understanding, personalization, and ML-driven ad experiences

- Partner with the science team to design, build, test, and deploy production systems serving machine learning models at scale

- Build ML infrastructure and data processing pipelines that support new advertising experiences globally

- Design, build, and operate key pieces of customer-facing functionality for hundreds of millions of shoppers

- Translate business and scientific requirements into robust APIs and maintainable software solutions

- Instrument systems to measure shopper and advertiser response to changes, driving data-informed iteration

- Drive major product and engineering initiatives that help merchants, retail vendors, and brand owners grow incremental sales through native advertising

Basic Qualifications

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

- 4+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
