Job Summary

The Cheer Head Coach is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the Bishop Blanchet High School Cheer Program. This includes tryouts, team selection, training, game performances, community events, and fundraising activities. The coach ensures that student-athletes develop strong cheer skills, teamwork, leadership, and school spirit while maintaining high standards of safety, discipline, and sportsmanship. The Cheer Coach will also coordinate camps, fundraising efforts, and game‑day performances throughout the year.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience in cheerleading, coaching, or gymnastics (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of cheer technique, safety guidelines, and performance preparation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor, motivate, and support student-athletes.
  • Commitment to promoting teamwork, school spirit, and good sportsmanship.
  • Experience in event planning, fundraising, and team coordination (preferred).
  • Ability to manage budgets, coordinate uniforms, and oversee logistics.
  • First Aid & CPR Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • WIAA Stunt Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Additional Information
  • Requires substantial extra hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Requires physical exertion associated with demonstrating cheerleading techniques.
  • Requires travel to practices, games, and events using BBHS vehicles.
Time Commitment
  • The cheer squad is active through every sport season - Fall, Winter and Spring as well as summer camps and team training.
  • Cheer tryouts and team selection in the spring.
  • Practices and camps during summer (June – August).
  • Weekly practices and game-day performances during football & basketball seasons.
  • Travel to away football and basketball games as needed.
  • Coordination of spirit events, assemblies, and fundraising efforts throughout the year.
  • Additional planning, communication, and administrative tasks as required.

This role provides an exciting opportunity to develop student-athletes, promote school spirit, and lead a dynamic cheer program at Bishop Blanchet High School.

Compensation

$10,300 stipend. This position is not benefits eligible. Stipends are paid in one installment, half way through the competition season. Additional compensation can be made by engaging in summer camp offerings.
