With over 650 student-athletes participating in UW's 22 sports programs, the department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing student-athletes with the ability to compete for national and conference championships while working toward a degree from one of the world's leading public research  collaboration with athletic trainers, team physicians, sports psychologists, and strength and conditioning coaches, and in support of coaches, athletics administrators and department personnel, the Performance Dietitian will work with the Director of Football Performance Nutrition to manage and deliver comprehensive nutritional services to approximately 115 football student-athletes.

The Performance Dietitian will work directly with the Director of Football Performance Nutrition to perform the following:
* Educate student-athletes, coaches, and peers on how to optimize health and athletic performance through effective dietary habits.
* Evaluate and assess the dietary practices of intercollegiate student-athletes. Provide individualized nutrition plans for student-athletes to promote the achievement of short-term and long-term goals for athletic performance and optimal health.
* Educate student-athletes, coaches, and support staff in lifestyle nutrition skills, including but not limited to, proper food selection strategies in the grocery store, food storage, pre-game menu choices, during-game fuel choices, post-game/practice fuel choices, cooking classes, food demos, etc.
* Evaluate and assess body composition and lead the education of student-athletes and coaches regarding body composition as it relates to optimizing health and athletic performance at various points throughout the year for student-athletes.
* Conduct additional physiological testing as indicated/requested, including but not limited to hydration testing with urine specific gravity (USG) and sweat rate testing.
* Conduct individual medical nutrition therapy for diagnosis such as ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, type 1 diabetes, stress fractures and bone health, celiac disease, severe food allergies, body composition management and interventions, pre- and post-surgical management, illness, eating disorders, REDS, and disordered eating.
* Serve as a member of a multidisciplinary high-performance team and work closely with mental health professionals, team physicians, athletic trainers, and strength and conditioning coaches on issues specific to student-athletes with eating disorders, disordered eating habits, body dysmorphia, and other diet influenced medical conditions.
* Manage the football fueling station, including managing a staff responsible for the ordering and inventory of selected food items; the recruiting, hiring, scheduling, and mentoring of hourly employees, student and dietetic interns, and volunteers; supervision of and the planning and delivery of customized snacks for specifically identified student-athletes.
