Baker Commodities Inc. – Pay Range

This range is provided by Baker Commodities Inc. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base Pay

$36.99/hr – $36.99/hr

Compensation & Benefits
  • Eligible for a $7,500 signing bonus (paid in installments over the first 15 months)
  • $36.99 per hour salary; shift differential for second or third shift hours

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Check vehicle to ensure all mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is clean and in good working order
  • Collect delivery instructions, verify instructions and routes
  • Drive assigned vehicle on designated route
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to vehicles
  • Maintain logs of working hours, vehicle service or repair status following state and federal regulations
  • Record information such as weight/volume, mileage, time and fuel consumption
  • Operate equipment such as GPS navigation and radio/phone to exchange information with supervisors or other points of contact
  • Plan/adjust routes based on changing conditions using navigation equipment to maximize fuel efficiency
  • Load or unload trucks using specialized equipment as necessary
  • Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
  • Follow department and company procedures
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality; essential for smooth operation of the company
  • Other duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective operation of the business (may change as business needs evolve)
Requirements
  • Valid Class A CDL and current DOT medical card
  • Must be 21 or older to comply with Federal regulations
  • Endorsements (tanker and doubles) based on vehicle assigned
  • 2 years commercial vehicle driving experience with an acceptable MVR
  • Ability to complete Entry Level Driver program if less than 2 years commercial driving experience with an acceptable MVR
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and speak English as required by Federal Motor Carrier Department
  • Understand and follow all DOT and FMCSA rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of transportation and safety principles for moving goods by road
  • Skill to operate, control and monitor vehicle and equipment
  • Ability to work overtime and alternate schedule/route as needed
  • Local travel; less than 5% overnight travel
Physical Demands / Requirements Constantly (over 2/3)
  • Remain in seated position while using arms, legs, and observation to operate vehicle
  • Observe and monitor equipment
  • Ascend/descend in and out of vehicle and on equipment
Frequently (1/3 – 2/3)
  • Communicate with co‑workers, customers and supervisors
  • Move, lift, push and pull equipment and material up to 60 lbs.
  • Walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach and handle equipment to collect material
  • Operate electronic devices such as GPS equipment and phone/radio
Occasionally (under 1/3)
  • Be exposed to outdoor weather conditions
  • Be exposed to materials occasionally requiring use of PPE such as gloves to protect from heat
  • Move across wet/slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Electronically and manually complete logs and reports
