Safety Sensitive PositionThis position is considered safety sensitive. Applicants are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and subsequent to commencement of employment, will be subject to random, post‑accident, reasonable suspicion, return‑to‑duty and follow‑up drug and alcohol testing in compliance with Federal DOT alcohol and controlled substances testing program protocols.
Responsibilities- Perform basic servicing and maintenance on automotive and heavy‑duty equipment.
- Fuel and service coaches daily.
- Assist mechanics as needed.
- Complete shop tasks typical of an equipment repair environment.
- Maintain accurate shop and service records.
- Work on gasoline‑powered vehicles, hybrid and diesel coaches, electric trolleys and buses, and other motorized or auxiliary equipment.
- Fuel and clean transit buses, check tires and fluid levels, and report defects.
- Lubricate all types of automotive equipment; inspect for servicing needs; service with fuel, oil, water and air.
- Observe and report mechanical and other defects.
- Clean and wash equipment and parts, including operating high‑pressure steam cleaning equipment on vehicles and parts.
- Complete minor repairs such as tightening mirrors and swipe arms.
- Change oil and filters.
- Attach and remove snow chains.
- Park and deliver motor vehicles; direct all types of vehicles to parking stalls.
- Assist in cleaning shops and work areas; clean and care for tools.
- Assist in minor store keeping duties.
- Keep routine records of tank gauge readings, supplies used, vehicle numbers and routine servicing activities.
- Input or extract data using a computer as required, including preparing required reports.
- Use maintenance charts and manuals as needed.
- Maintain chemical balance in hot tanks and deliver cleaned parts to proper locations.
- Pick up or deliver parts between bases as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The job requires a range of physical skills normally associated with automotive service and maintenance activities including standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching, twisting, and the operation of foot controls while driving. Continuous hand and finger manipulations are required. Lifting up to 50 pounds is required.
Minimum Qualifications- One year of professional or personal automotive equipment servicing experience.
- Graduation from an accredited pre‑apprenticeship program for the trades is required.

- Proficiency in the use of personal computers and software programs to enter and extract information from automated vehicle maintenance systems and related software applications.
Special Requirements
- All applicants must be 18 years old at time of application.
- Must pass drug and alcohol testing provision for safety‑sensitive positions as required by the U.S. Department of Transportation, 49 CFR Parts 40 and 655.
- Must pass post‑offer, pre‑employment physical.
- A valid Washington State Driver License and acceptable driving record.
