The Finance and Administrative Services Department (FAS) is seeking a temporary Delivery Worker for the Facility Operations Division. This position will cover a route that could be a walking route or operate a vehicle on route to pick up and deliver interoffice, US Mail, office supplies, cases of copy paper and various record boxes to pre-assigned and special delivery locations within the City of Seattle and King County geographical area.

FAS is often the public's first interaction with the City of Seattle, operating as a customer-focused front door that assists with everything from paying utilities or reporting a pothole to requesting public information or even adopting a new pet.
The 500-plus employees of FAS span across 10 divisions and work behind-the-scenes providing critical functions, like managing 120 City facilities—including police and fire stations—overseeing the City's neighborhood customer service centers and Customer Service Bureau and making sure minority-owned businesses can equitably compete for City contracts. No matter the need, FAS is here—at your service.
- Pick-up and deliver interoffice mail, US Mail, office supplies, equipment, packages, cases of copy paper and various record boxes to designated City departments on pre-assigned routes.
- Receive and sort packages, interoffice mail, code and prepare mailand packagesfordelivery.
- Deliver packages to departments and staff using handheld scanners to scan and sign for packages
- Process outgoing US Mail and packages.
- Answer telephone, email and respond to questions related to mail, deliveries, andpickups.
- Make special or non-scheduled urgent deliveries.
- Maintain vehicle mileage, and/or daily inspection logs.
- Use handheld scanners to log and document pickup/deliveryinformation.
- Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
- One year of delivery and/or courier, warehousing, or shipping & receiving experience (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class) AND
- Current and valid Washington State driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with customers and others
- Knowledge of mail processing and use of mailing equipment
- Experience in using handheld scanner or electronic tracking devices
- Knowledge of United State Postal Service mail standards
- Experience in metering and processing outgoing US Mail by mail classes
- This position requires full-time onsite work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk or bend for extended periods of time is required.
- Ability to safely operate City vehicles and drive in all-weather conditions
- Works indoors and in all outdoor weather environments
This position is classified as a Delivery Worker. It is Civil Service represented, FLSA non-exempt and is eligible for overtime. The full range for this step-progression position is $27.92 - $32.47 hourly.

Background CheckThis position requires successfully passing a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) background check. Delivery Workers in this role may have access to secure City facilities, restricted operational areas, or information systems connected to public safety functions. CJIS clearance ensures that employees who work in or around these sensitive environments meet federal and local security standards. Candidates must complete fingerprinting and all required CJIS screening before hire.
