Loan Officer – Consumer Lending

Role Summary

Assist members with consumer lending needs, analyze loan requests, set up new accounts, cross‑sell products, and provide support for existing loans.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • 80% – Interview member loan applicants, determine their loan needs and financial condition, establish loan terms, and identify cross‑sell opportunities.
  • 10% – Assist members with loan inquiries or issues regarding existing loans.
  • 5% – Serve as backup for MSRs to assist new members in opening accounts, answer product questions, and cross‑sell products.
  • 5% – Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements
  • Meet ELGA’s Core Factors (Accountability, Attitude, Communication, Competence, Continuous Improvement & Innovation, Relationship Building).
  • Provide professional, friendly service to all members; maintain eye contact, use member’s name, smile, and find solutions.
  • Process all transactions, new accounts, and loans with 100% accuracy; send completed loan files within 5 days; complete monthly loan reports by the 2nd business day.
  • Conduct thorough interviews using TIPS steps, prepare loan packages, complete a HYLS, and submit recommendations.
  • Achieve 100% of sales goals, cover at least 80% of closed loans with payment protection, manage portfolio for delinquency and yield goals, and contact members on payment default lists.
  • Produce assigned loan volume, respond to loan requests promptly, manage voicemails, pursue opportunities beyond requested loan transactions, follow up on referrals, and proactively call members.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Experience:

      One to three years of similar or related experience.
    • Education:

      High school diploma or GED.
    • Interpersonal skills:
      Provide courteous service to the public, manage routine contacts, and maintain professional relationships.
