The School Board of Highlands County is seeking a teacher. The position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution and certification by the State of Florida in the appropriate subject area. The role involves light work, occasionally exerting up to 20 pounds of force and frequently up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. A satisfactory clearance of a criminal history records check and drug screening is also required.
The primary responsibilities include developing long- and short-term plans based on student needs, planning and preparing lessons and instructional strategies, creating a positive and safe learning environment, and managing time and materials effectively. The teacher will also instruct and supervise volunteers and aides, develop assessment strategies, and ensure student growth and achievement. The role requires ethical conduct, active participation in school improvement initiatives, and compliance with all emergency procedures.
Performance will be appraised annually, and pay will be determined according to the School Board of Highlands County Instructional Salary Schedule.
