Minimum RequirementsA high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of experience in agriculture or environmental science; or a high school diploma or its equivalent and one and a half (1.5) years of experience as an Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida; or a bachelor's degree (4 years) or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in agriculture or environmental science and six (6) months of experience in agriculture or environmental science.

This is a professional team-oriented intermediate level position under the supervision of the Environmental Supervisor IV that assists with the coordination and implementation of the agricultural component of the Basin Management Action Plan (BMAP) and Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) programs established by the Florida Watershed Restoration Act, delivering FDACS Best Management Practices (BMP) Program, working in close cooperation with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), water management districts (WMDs), soil and water conservation districts (SWCDs), and private landowners.
Travel to assigned sites within established BMAPs and perform detailed on-site irrigation system evaluations on commercial groves, farms, and nurseries. Work in cooperation with FDACS - BMP field staff and assist by performing pre and post evaluations for cost share projects. Duties may require regular and recurring physical exertion related to conservation work including walking on rough terrain or slick areas, jumping furrows, climbing steep banks and/or crouching and work in inclement weather.
