Job Description:
Assumes responsibility for inventory control of clinical supplies and proper disposal of biohazardous waste. Maintains exam rooms and work areas in a clean and organized manner. Communicates patient care concerns to appropriate personnel and follows up with patients/families as needed. Provides safe and effective patient care under the direction of the physician and/or nurse manager. Escorts patients from the waiting area into the exam room, documents brief history, and records vital signs.
Performs initial and ongoing assessment of patients using established guidelines. Performs diagnostic and therapeutic measures as prescribed by the physician. Documents and administers immunizations, therapeutic injections, and medications under supervision. Schedules patients for procedures, diagnostic testing, or specialists as directed. Assists the physician with office procedures and performs venipuncture and stat lab work. Documents patient information in medical records, including observations, care administered, and test results.
Relays laboratory and x-ray results to patients and maintains a log of diagnostic tests. Other duties as assigned.
